All of us are responsible for stopping the scourge of human trafficking

Tragically, if you are a woman or girl and the victim of human trafficking in Scotland, there is a 50 per cent chance that you are being sexually exploited, too. Indeed, regardless of your gender, there is also a high likelihood that you are either in domestic servitude or forced labour.

Very few people truly believe that human trafficking happens in their community, particularly in Scotland. I would imagine even fewer businesses believe that they can do anything to prevent it. My passion for tackling this issue was ignited while walking the floor of our centre of excellence for risk in Edinburgh. I was met by a young woman who described herself neither as analyst, nor intelligence expert; no, she was fighting human trafficking. In
